Liquid paraffin, also called paraffin oil or mineral oil, is a mixture of hydrocarbons obtained from petroleum. It is indigestible and therefore of limited absorption in the skin. It is an oily, colorless and transparent liquid. Practically insoluble in water, poorly soluble in alcohol 96º and miscible with most oils but not with castor oil.
